My Favourite Hymn – Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Each week, you are invited to identify your favourite hymn for recording and posting by Steve Holowitz and Paul Grambo.

Of this week’s hymn, ‘Breathe on Me, Breath of God’, Carolyn Fryer writes: “This has been one of my favourite hymns since I was a young girl singing in the choir at Christ Church. My understanding then was very simple but still true today. It spoke to me of the Holy Spirit of God breathing life into us at birth, helping us to live a faithful life, following God’s will and doing what would please Him, and then taking our Spirit to our Heavenly home and eternal life when our earthly life is over. The Holy Spirit gives life here and eternal life to follow. When I was a child, the tune we sang it to even seemed like breathing, with its swells and falls.”
