Bible Study – First Isaiah
January 23 @ 10:00 am - June 5 @ 11:00 am
Tuesday afternoons January 23 to June 5, 1:30-2:30 for a Bible Study on “First Isaiah,” Chapters 1-39. Participants take turns (though the shy may opt out) reading selected verses aloud, from whichever edition of the Bible they bring.
We put the passages in their historical context then conduct a “Theological Reflection” on the readings. As author Diarmaid MacCulloch says, paraphrasing early theologians Origen and Maximus, we can see “behind the veil of the literal meaning of the text a great sea of spiritual truths …. To seek after these meanings was yet another pathway back to the Creator… a path directed by love.”
The sessions are led by Peggy Roffey, Mentor-In Training for the course “Education for Ministry.” For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org
